Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut Comes Through for Us

It was July 2001.  My son was turning one and we decided to have his birthday party at the beach.  I’ve never been one of these perfect-party planning moms, so holding a beach party seemed like a good idea.  We would swim and have pizza and cake under the pavilion.  But, things didn’t go exactly as I had planned.

We were there for about a half an hour before the sky turned grey, then black.  The storm clouds rolled in and the rain started to fall.  Everyone huddled up, cold and wet in the pavilion while we decided what to do and where to go next.  Of course, everyone had a different idea: wait out the storm, drive the hour back to our house, call it and try again next weekend.  That’s when someone suggested go to Pizza Hut.  That turned out to be the best idea.

When we arrived at Pizza Hut, all fifteen of us, wet and sandy from the beach, the staff immediately seated us in a section that would accommodate the group.  And, once they learned that it my son’s birthday they went all out.  The server immediately brought out balloons and tied them to his chair.  She also brought free chocolate milk for the kids to drink while we waited for our order, made sure we had plates and napkins for the cake, and even assembled a group to sing Happy Birthday.

It’s not often that one is so impressed with the service at a restaurant enough to write about it.  This was one of these experiences, though.  In fact, whenever we go to the beach, we usually end up at this Pizza Hut afterwards.  It has become one of our favorite places.  We even joke about repeated the “Pizza Hut birthday party.”  Honestly, that would be fine with me.
